ROS Approves New Umno Constitutional Amendments

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 (Bernama) -- The Registrar of Societies (ROS) has approved the new Umno constitutional amendments effective Nov 10, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said.

The Umno president said the party would find ways to clean-up the membership list to come out with the latest one.

"Based on the new Umno constitution, we don't need to collect the annual fees. As such we have to ensure that the members are genuine.

"Umno headquarters will contact all divisions to explain the clean-up to be done by the party," he told reporters after the Umno Supreme Council (MT) meeting here Friday night.

The three-hour meeting which began at 9pm also approved Umno programmes with the theme 'Umno Juara Rakyat' (Umno The People's Champion) which would be introduced in January.

"Although the theme is 'Umno Juara Rakyat', Umno will continue to be with other Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties in implementing various programmes at division level in line with the concept.

"The programmes cover activities on education, religion, spiritual, economy, entrepreneurship, social, non-governmental organisations (NGO) and other programmes already approved by MT," Najib said.
