Rahim suggests Dr M be offered post of Senior Minister

(Bernama) -- Risda chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik today suggested that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak consider offering former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad the post of senior minister.

He said Dr Mahathir's wide experience as prime minister for 22 years, during which time he implemented various development projects and strengthened the national economy, should be harnessed by the government to help the progress of Malaysia and other Islamic countries.

"Even when he does not hold any post, Tun (Dr Mahathir) is often invited by certain countries such as Japan and Egypt to shares his views and experiences.

"As such, it would be good to consider a little status for Tun to visit such countries to share his experiences," he told reporters after the distribution of copies of the book "Amanat Perdana Menteri" to 113 senior officers of Risda, the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM) and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), here.
