PORT DICKSON, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- More Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) members were leaving the party in the run-up to the Bagan Pinang state by-election on Sunday.
Teluk Kemang PKR division secretary Norman Sulaiman led a group of 125 PKR members to pledge their support to Barisan Nasional (BN) today, citing delusions with the opposition struggle as the reason.
Eighty of them handed their applications to join Umno to the BN candidate in the by-election, Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul at a ceremony here Friday.
The ceremony was witnessed by Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.
Fourty-five other former PKR members, who are Chinese, also pledged their support to the BN.
Former PKR members, who defected to Umno today, include PKR Teluk Kemang division Youth chief Muhammaddin Abu Bakar.
Yesterday, a PKR founding member, Abdul Manap Shahardin led a group of 63 PKR members pledging their support to the BN.
