By Mohd Nasir Yusoff

JAKARTA, Sept 17 (Bernama) -- Indonesian police chief Gen Bambang Hendarso Danuri Thursday confirmed that the country's most wanted terrorist, Noordin Mohd Top, was shot dead in a police operation in Solo, central Java.

He said that besides finger print identification, the police could conclusively say that the dead man was Noordin based on 14 other marks and features on the body of the man who had hailed from Malaysia.

"Alhamdulillah (praise be to God) in this month of Ramadan, he is Noordin Mohd Top," he told a news conference at his office, the event carried live by local television stations.

Bambang said the police anti-terrorist squad, Densus 88, had worked hard over the last nine years in tracking Noordin. Three other terrorists were also killed and one was injured in the operation, he said.

He said police found 200 kg of explosives in the house where Noordin was killed, besides loaded M-16 rifles, laptop computers and various documents.
