KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 29 (Bernama) -- The thunderstorms occurring in the
waters of Sarawak, Labuan and on the West Coast of Sabah are expected to
continue until pre-dawn tomorrow.
The Meteorological Department in a statement here Sunday night said the
condition could result in strong winds of 50-60km per hour and turbulent
seas up to 4.5 metres.
Thunderstorms were also expected in the waters of Perak, Selangor,
Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and West Johor resulting in winds of up to 50km
per hour and stormy seas with waves touching 3.5 metres and expected to
continue until pre-dawn tomorrow.
The situation is the same in the waters of Reef North, Bunguran,
Layang-Layang and Palawan resulting in wind speeds in excess of 60km per
hour and choppy seas with waves of up to 5.5 metres, which were also
expected to end before dawn tomorrow.
The condition is dangerous for all coastal activities and shipping including fishing, activities on oil rigs and ferry services.
