KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 4 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun
Razak, who is also Umno President, tonight chaired a special Umno
Supreme Council (MT) meeting in conjunction with the 2013 Umno General
Assembly.
The assembly is the first after the 13th general election last May and the party election last October.
The special meeting, held at the Umno headquarters at Menara Dato' Onn
here, was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin
Yassin, who is also Umno Deputy President.
Others present included Vice-President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid
Hamidi, secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, Youth
leader Khairy Jamaluddin, party treasurer Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni
Hanadzlah and Information Chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan.
Among the new MT-appointed members present were Youth vice-chief
Khairul Azwan Harun, Puteri vice-chief Zahida Zarik Khan, Titiwangsa
Member of Parliament Datuk Johari Abdul Ghani, former Universiti
Teknologi Mara Vice-Chancellor Prof Tan Sri Dr Ibrahim Abu Shah, Yayasan
Dakwah Islamiah president Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and Kuala Selangor
Member of Parliament Datuk Irmohanizam Ibrahim.
All the MT members present took their oath of office before Najib and Muhyiddin prior to the meeting which started at 9pm.
Najib will open the Umno General Assembly 2013 at Dewan Merdeka, Putra
World Trade Centre tomorrow, as well as deliver the presidential address
before the 2,759 delegates attending the assembly.
