(Jakim) has welcome an announcement that eight additional measures are
being taken by the government to enhance the nation's prosperity and
Muslims' faith.
Its director-general, Datuk Othman Mustapha said the announcement would
inspire and motivate Jakim employees and benefit Muslims nationwide.
"This proves that the Islamic agenda has always been given priority by
the government as enshrined under with Article 3 (1) of the Federal
Constitution which stipulates that Islam is the official religion of the
federation," he said in a statement Wednesday.
The eight measures were announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun
Razak at an assembly of ulama at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil,

They include plans to strengthen Jakim by turning it into the National
Council of Islamic Religious Affairs secretariat, coordinate state
Muslim affairs at the national level, and upgrade Kafa, Darul Quran into
Al-Quran University College and mosque's ICT.
